Some Local Players Might Play For Pennsylvania This Year The 2002 USBL Draft was held and the number one overall pick went to St. Joseph Express who drafted John Linehan out of Providence. The ValleyDawgs held the number seven pick and selected a big man out of Seton Hall- Charles Manga. Manga averaged seven points and 8 rebounds this past season playing center for the Pirates. Though he is a defensive center, he does have an offensive game to his credit. His season high scoring was 23 points against Georgetown where he shot 11 of 17 from the field. The ValleyDawgs' other draft picks were Mario Porter (Rider), Kevin Lyde (Temple), Juwan Justice (East Stroudburg), Brook Sales (Villanova), Kevin Henry (Baylor), Mark Mesko (Muhlenberg), and Johnnie Selvi (UConn). Mario Porter is an excellent scorer as he averaged twenty points per game this year with Rider. He will play the small forward position. Also, Kevin Lyde, who was hoping to go to the NBA draft, averaged 8 points and 8 boards this year with Temple. As you look at the players drafted, you have to be happy. But you might see only a few of them play this season. As you look at the players drafted, there are many guys that really made their names in the NCAA Tournament this year to the public. Jeff Boschee, Rasual Butler, Preston Shumpert and many more are candidates to be in the NBA. Rasual Butler had an excellent season this year with LaSalle as he was drafted by Adirondack in the fourth round.
